This is the weblog of the Jefferson Library at Monticello, in which we keep our staff, fellows and users (and really anyone else who cares to read) informed about interesting things we find, interesting things that are happening, and interesting things we are doing. Blog entries are written by library staff members:
Anna: Research Librarian. Answers reference questions, buys books, trawls through professional literature. Nice shoes.
Bryan: Thomas Jefferson Encyclopedia Editor. Bryan contributes and edits encyclopedia articles, and “takes one for the team” by reading new books on the life and times of Jefferson.
Eric: Library Services Coordinator. AKA “The Hammer.”

Good Afternoon,
The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society has just published it’s 66th annual journal on local history. This issue of the Magazine of Albemarle County History, was done under the direction of a new editor – Antoinette W. Roades. This issue features an article by Professor Daniel Bluestone on Charlottesville’s first skyscrapers and article by Ms. Roades on an early local photographer and is amply illustrated in both cases. The article by Ms. Roades is also the subject of the current exhibit at the Society.
I bring this to your attention as a search of this year’s issues index will reveal abundant entries under Jefferson and Monticello, not to mention Gibboney, Randolph, Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation, et al. Also, as the Index indicates, images of Monticello appear with three separate articles. I am sure that you and possibly your readers may be interested in these references.
The Jefferson Library should have received a copy, but if you would like another please let me know.
Kindly,
Steven G. Meeks
President
Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society
Thanks for the tip! Another of our readers had mentioned the latest MACH to me as well, so stay tuned for a brief entry on the Roads/Roades article. MACH is always sure to contain material of interest to us and our patrons.
